Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
1. About us
This acceptable use policy sets out the terms between you and us under which you may access our website https://bigmouthcompetitions.com (our site). It applies to all users of, and visitors to, our site, whether or not you enter a competition.
Our site is operated by Big Mouth Competitions Limited (we, us, our). We are registered in England and Wales under company number 16761060, with our registered office at 1st Floor, Waterside House, Waterside Drive, Wigan, Lancashire, England, WN3 5AZ.
To contact us, email hello@bigmouthcompetitions.com.
Your use of our site means you accept, and agree to abide by, this acceptable use policy. It supplements, and should be read together with:
- our Terms and Conditions, which govern competition entry and prizes;
- our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data; and
- our Cookie Policy.
Where this policy conflicts with our Terms and Conditions in relation to a competition entry or a prize, the Terms and Conditions prevail.
2. Who may use our site
You may only enter a competition, hold an account, or receive a prize if you:
- are aged 18 or over;
- are legally resident in the United Kingdom; and
- are not an employee, officer or contractor of ours, nor a member of their immediate household, unless we say otherwise in the rules for a specific competition.
Our site and our competitions are not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from under-18s. If we believe an entrant is under 18 we may suspend the account, void all entries, and withhold or reclaim any prize under section 9. Nothing in this policy permits a parent or guardian to consent to a minor entering a competition.
We may ask you at any time to provide proof of identity, age and address before we release a prize.
3. Prohibited uses
You may use our site only for lawful purposes. You may not use our site:
- in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;
- in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent, or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect;
- for the purpose of harming, or attempting to harm, minors in any way;
- to send, knowingly receive, upload, download, use or re-use any material which does not comply with the content standards in section 7;
- to transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material, or any similar solicitation (spam);
- to knowingly transmit any data, or send or upload any material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or any other harmful code designed to adversely affect the operation of any computer software or hardware.
You also agree:
- not to reproduce, duplicate, copy or re-sell any part of our site in contravention of our Terms and Conditions;
- not to use any automated system (including any robot, spider, scraper, script or offline reader) to access, monitor or copy our site or any part of it;
- not to access without authority, interfere with, damage or disrupt any part of our site, any equipment or network on which our site is stored, any software used in providing our site, or any equipment, network or software owned or used by a third party;
- not to attempt to probe, scan or test the vulnerability of our site or breach its security or authentication measures, or to circumvent any rate limit, entry cap or geographic restriction.
4. Competition integrity
These rules protect the fairness of our competitions and the legal basis on which they operate. Breaching any of them is a material breach of this policy.
You must not:
- Automate or outsource entry. You must not use any bot, script, macro, browser extension, entry service or third party to submit entries or hold or operate an account on your behalf.
- Hold more than one account. You may hold one account only. You must not open, operate or control multiple or duplicate accounts, use another person’s identity or payment details, or allow anyone else to use your account.
- Sell, transfer or share accounts or entries. Accounts and entries are personal to you and are not transferable, and must not be advertised, sold, gifted or syndicated except where the specific competition rules expressly permit a syndicate.
- Disguise your location or identity. You must not use a VPN, proxy, remote desktop, virtual machine, spoofed device or falsified address, name, date of birth or contact details to enter, or to appear eligible when you are not.
- Abuse payment methods. You must not use a stolen, cloned or unauthorised payment method, exploit a pricing, discount, voucher or credit error, or raise a chargeback or payment dispute in bad faith rather than contacting us first.
- Abuse the free entry route. Our free entry route is provided so our competitions qualify for the exemption in Schedule 2 to the Gambling Act 2005. Each free entry must be posted in a separate envelope; several entries sent in one envelope will be treated as a single entry. You must not submit free entries in bulk on behalf of others, submit computer-generated or automated free entries, or use the free entry route in any way intended to circumvent the entry caps, which apply equally to paid entries and to free entries.
- Interfere with a draw. You must not attempt to influence, predict-and-exploit, or interfere with the operation of any draw, random number generator or verification process, or misrepresent yourself as a winner.
- Exploit errors. If you become aware of a bug, error or loophole that affects entry, pricing, entry counts or draw outcomes, you must report it to hello@bigmouthcompetitions.com and must not exploit it.
5. Winners’ information and other users’ data
We publish an entry list for each competition, showing entrants’ names and entry numbers, and we publish limited details of winners. Both are explained in our Privacy Policy, and you can ask us to leave your name out of the entry list at any time.
You must not:
- collect, scrape, index, compile or store the details of entrants or winners, whether from the entry list or from anywhere else on our site;
- contact, approach or attempt to identify a winner without their consent;
- publish or share any other person’s personal data obtained through our site or our social media channels;
- impersonate a winner, or suggest you are connected with us when you are not.
6. Live draws and our social media channels
We run live draws and maintain a page at https://facebook.com/bigmouthcompetitions. That platform is operated by a third party under its own terms, and any interaction between users takes place on their service and not on ours.
Where you post on, or comment via, our social media channels, the content standards in section 7 apply to you, and we may hide, remove, report or block content or users that breach them. We are under no obligation to monitor those channels in real time, and any moderation we do choose to apply is not a guarantee that all content will be reviewed.
7. Content standards
These standards apply to any material you contribute to our site or to our social media channels (contributions). You must comply with the spirit and the letter of these standards, which apply to each part of a contribution as well as to the whole.
Contributions must:
- be accurate, where they state facts;
- be genuinely held, where they state opinions;
- reflect your own genuine experience, where they are a review or testimonial about us, our site or our competitions;
- comply with applicable law in the UK and in any country from which they are posted.
Contributions must not:
- be defamatory of any person;
- be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory;
- promote sexually explicit material or violence;
- promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy or maternity, marriage or civil partnership status, or age;
- infringe any copyright, database right or trade mark of any other person;
- be likely to deceive any person, or constitute or facilitate a fake, incentivised or concealed-incentive review;
- be made in breach of any legal duty owed to a third party, such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence;
- promote any illegal activity, or advocate, promote or assist any unlawful act such as copyright infringement or computer misuse;
- be threatening or abusive, invade another’s privacy, or cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety;
- be likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person, including our staff, our moderators and our live-draw hosts;
- impersonate any person, misrepresent your identity or your affiliation with any person, or give the impression that they come from us when they do not.
8. Reporting a breach
If you believe content on our site or our social media channels breaches this policy, or that someone is manipulating a competition, email hello@bigmouthcompetitions.com with the details and, where possible, a link or screenshot. We aim to acknowledge reports within 2 working days, and to tell you the outcome, where it is appropriate to do so, within 14 days.
9. What happens if you breach this policy
We will decide, acting reasonably and taking account of the evidence available to us, whether you have breached this policy. Where we conclude you have, we may take one or more of the following steps, to the extent proportionate to the breach:
- issue you with a warning;
- remove any contribution you have made;
- suspend your account while we investigate, or withdraw your right to use our site temporarily or permanently;
- void some or all of your entries in the affected competition or competitions;
- withhold, withdraw or reclaim any prize you have won, and offer or award that prize to another eligible entrant;
- refuse to accept future entries from you;
- refund the entry fees paid for any entries we void, where our Terms and Conditions provide for a refund;
- take legal action against you to recover the losses and costs we actually and reasonably incur as a result of your breach;
- disclose information to the police, a regulator, a payment provider or another law enforcement authority where we are required to do so, or where we reasonably consider it necessary to prevent or detect crime, in each case in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Failure to comply with this policy is a material breach of the terms on which you are permitted to use our site.
Before we withhold or reclaim a prize, we will tell you why and give you a reasonable opportunity to respond, unless we are prevented from doing so by law or by a live investigation. If you disagree with a decision we take under this section, you may raise it through our complaints process at section 10.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with a decision we have made, email hello@bigmouthcompetitions.com marking your message “Complaint”. We aim to acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and to respond substantively within 14 days.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
11. Our liability
We do not exclude or limit our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for any of your statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from another user’s breach of this policy, or from any interaction between users on a third-party platform.
Where we take action under section 9 and it later turns out we were wrong to do so, we will put the position right — by reinstating your account and entries, refunding your entry fees, or, where a prize was wrongly withheld, providing the prize or its cash equivalent. Beyond that, we are not liable to you for action reasonably taken under section 9.
12. Changes to this policy
We may change this policy where we have a valid reason to do so — for example, to reflect a change in the law or in regulatory guidance, a change in how our site works, or a new risk we need to address.
Where a change materially affects you, we will give you at least 14 days’ notice by email or by a prominent notice on our site. Changes do not apply retrospectively to competitions you have already entered; the version of this policy in force when you entered continues to govern that entry. If you do not accept a change, you may close your account, and we will not accept further entries from you.
13. Other terms
This policy, its subject matter and its formation are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
If a court finds part of this policy unlawful, the rest continues in force. If we delay in enforcing this policy, that does not prevent us from enforcing it later.
